I’m super excited to bring you guys a special post this week, a video interview with photographer, traveller and storyteller Dustin Main, from Saskatoon, Canada.
Dustin is a serial entrepreneur, digital nomad, photographer, and perpetual world traveller. Since 2009 he's circled the globe again and again, photographing cultures, climbing mountains, and pushing boundaries.
In that time, Dustin has launched several new businesses, photographed for more than a dozen clients around the globe, spoken in front of 3000 people at the World Domination Summit about turning inspiration into action, raised more than $20,000 for the charity One Girl by doing amazing things in a school girl's dress, and undertaken a 5 year documentary photography project in Myanmar, This Myanmar Life.
In this interview we talk a lot about storytelling through photography, including how Dustin approaches travelling to a new place, and how he goes about finding stories for projects such as this one. We also talk a lot about the country of Myanmar, a place that many know little about, and it’s no wonder why.
For years the country was virtually closed off to foreigners, and only in the past few years have western sanctions been relaxed as the country has taken baby steps toward democracy. It’s a fascinating country that I had the privilege of visiting myself for a month a couple of years ago. Dustin has developed a deep bond and appreciation for both the country, and it’s people and in this interview he shares some truly great stories of his time there which are worth tuning in for all on their own.
