This photo of the moon over mountains in British Columbia, near Whistler could very well be my favourite image of all time. The soft light of the setting sun that bathes the mountains captures the serenity of the scene, as I camped on a ridge straddling two valleys, surrounded by mountains and glaciers.
Soon after one of the most incredible sunsets I've ever witnessed, nature had another treat in store for us, as the cloud cover that had hung around for most of the evening dissipated entirely, giving us stunning views of the stars and the milky way.
There are few (if any) better places to view the night sky than from the top of a mountain. The same could be said for sunsets, places to camp, hang out with old friends, make new friends... I think you get it.
This final image is a layering of two images in Photoshop. The stars are from a second image taken later in the night, then layered and blended over the sunset and foreground image.
